The March issue of Backpacker Magazine includes a compilation of the 52 most common mistakes hikers make. These include mistakes made at home, on the trail, in camp, as well as navigational, first aid, and food and water mistakes.
This is an excellent list for newbies, and a good review for grizzled veterans!

Is there a prize for "collecting" all 52 mistakes? Ok, so maybe I haven't made ALL of them...but I've made my fair share, and will probably make some more. Isn't that half the fun?
As long as you don't pay a steep price! Hey, we're all probably guilty of at least a couple of them...
