Great Smoky Mountain National Park issued a winter weather advisory on their website this afternoon. The region is expecting dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills through this weekend.
Gatlinburg is expecting lows of 5 degrees Thursday night and 0 degrees Friday night. In the mountains there's a chance of light snow, and wind chills of minus 10 to minus 20 degrees. This definitely wouldn't be a good weekend to be out in a tent or backcountry shelter.
