Due to a wildfire a portion of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail (AT) has been temporarily closed in the Cherokee National Forest. The USFS has rerouted the trail for 7.2 miles along Forest Road 293 at Bitter End, off Buck Mountain Road north to the first field. There are several water sources available along Forest Road 293, and one up at the field JCT.
