As a result of the wind storm from yesterday and overnight, Newfound Gap Road and the Cades Cove Loop Road are temporarily closed due to downed trees. Both roads are expected to open later this morning.
The Great Smoky Mountains also announced this morning that you can now receive road status updates on Twitter.
Updates are now available for Newfound Gap Road (US-441), Little River Road, Laurel Creek Road, and Cades Cove Loop Road. If you wish to receive text messages of the status of these roads, text "follow smokiesroadsnps" to 40404. To unsubscribe, text "leave smokiesroadsnps" to 40404.
