Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will be celebrating National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 29th by authorizing one night of free camping at Alum Ford Campground and free backcountry camping permits.
National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer event in which eight federal agencies as well as other groups partner together to maintain and protect the environment. The Big South Fork will be organizing a number of volunteer trail improvement projects on September 29. If you would like to participate, call Wallace Linder at (423) 569-9778 or find more information at www.publiclandsday.org.
