The Smoky Mountain Field School recently published its 2009 schedule.
The Field School is a partnership between Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the University of Tennessee. For more than 30 years the school has offered high-quality workshops, hikes, and adventures to more than 750 people each year who want to enhance their enjoyment, appreciation, and understanding of the Smokies and the great outdoors.
A few of the early spring events that hikers may be interested in, include:
March 22. Tracking and Nature Observation
March 28. Introduction to Orienteering
March 29. Advanced Orienteering
April 11. Spring Wildflowers and Walker Sisters' Homesite Day Hike
April 18. Spring Wildflowers and Nature Photography
April 18. The Perfect Hike
