Shackleton Team Reaches Pole / Condition 1 Weather Film

If you recall from a couple of previous posts, a group of adventurers have been retracing Ernest Shackleton’s first expedition to the Antarctic in honor of the expedition’s 100th anniversary. Today we learned that the Matrix Shackleton Centenary Expedition reached the South Pole over the weekend, after spending 66 days out on the ice.

Speaking of the Antarctic, have you ever wondered what "Condition 1" weather is like?

Although this was posted about two-and-a-half years ago, this short film is currently making the rounds in the blogosphere. It was filmed at the McMurdo Station, an American base in Antartica that is relatively sheltered by surrounding hills. Weather is classified as being Condition 3 (nice weather), Condition 2 (not so nice), or Condition 1...
