The book on winter backpacking looks mighty interesting. Although in Sedona, hiking in the winter is still pretty mild. Nevertheless, it will be good to get tips to use when in really serious winters in other hike places.

I would like to introduce you to a new product just made available for sale. It is the Airlite Inflatable Snowshoe. They are 16″x36″ when inflated and only weigh about 17 or 18 ounces. The material is not a plastic, this is no toy. Very compack when folded or rolled up for storage. Works great in most snow conditions without the soon available added traction device. They are very tough and very puncture resistant. They are primarily desinged as an emergency pair of snowshoes for snowmachiners and bush pilots, but they are so tough and work so well they are a great addition to your winter recreation gear. You can see/get them at http://www.airlitesnowshoe.com . I would appreciate any feed back.
