As part of the year-long celebration of the 75th anniversary of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Jerry Span from the Fontana Hiking Club has organized a program called “75 Hikes on the 75th”. As the name would imply, there will be 75 organized hikes in the Smoky Mountains throughout 2009.
Below are the six hikes scheduled for April:
April 4. Turkey Pen Ridge/Schoolhouse Gap to Scott Mtn trailhead/Bote Mtn/Finley Gap
April 5. Appalachian Trail from Newfound Gap to Clingmans Dome
April 11. A.T. from Clingmans/Welch Ridge/Bear Cr./Forney Cr./Whiteoak Br./Lakeshore
April 12. Road Prong/Chimney Tops
April 18. Lakeshore/Lost Cove/A.T. to Fontana Dam
April 25. Huskey Gap/Sugarland Mtn./Rough Cr./Little River/Huskey Gap
