Fall Heritage Festival and Old Timer's Day

Saturday, September 3, 2011

Only three weeks away is the annual Fall Heritage Festival and Old Timer's Day in Townsend, Tennessee.

This years' event, which takes place on Friday, September 23rd, and Saturday, September 24th, will include many old-time Appalachian skills demomstrations, such as; blacksmithing, beekeeping, Cherokee finger weaving, as well as sorghum molasses, apple butter, apple cider, and cornmeal making, among others.

The Cades Cove Preservation Association will have exhibits, and Appalachian Bear Rescue will have a black bear booth.

There will also be bluegrass music and clogging at the stage, and jam sessions on the porch and under the trees, all day long.

For more information, visit Townsend's Smoky Mountain Convention & Visitors Bureau website.

This is a wonderful festival to attend. My husband and I have been to them many times. Wish I were going to be there this year.
