Porters Creek Trail temporarily closed

Friday, December 17, 2010

Park officials just posted a blurb on their website that the log footbridge on the Porters Creek Trail above its junction with Brushy Mountain is damaged. They ask not to use the trail until the bridge has been repaired.

I assume they mean only the portion above the Brushy Mountain junction is closed.

Randy Small, from the 900 miles blog posted a little while back that the handrail was missing on one of the higher footlogs. Here's a link to his blog post about it: http://900-miles.blogspot.com/2010/12/porters-creek-trail.html

Thanks for the link Steven. With all the snow and ice, I definitely wouldn't want to attempt to cross that right now!

Does anyone know if the Porters Creek Trail is back open, has the bridges been repaired. Thanks for any response.
